Progress to the second year of an undergraduate degree - degree options
On achieving the University’s agreed progression grades for the Undergraduate Certificate, students can progress directly on to the second year of an undergraduate degree at Heriot-Watt University.
Choosing a degree
During the first term of the Undergraduate Certificate, students are given a great deal of advice about their degree options at Heriot-Watt. Each student has a personal tutor who helps the student to choose the degree programme that they would like to progress on to. The university will then issue a 'conditional offer' meaning that the student will have a place on the second year of their chosen degree providing that they achieve a specific overall grade and English grade in the Undergraduate Certificate as listed below.
Undergraduate degrees at the School of Management and Languages are four years long and students will graduate with an MA (Hons) qualification. This is an Undergraduate honours degree and not to be confused with the MA you might see for Postgraduate degrees. Students in Scotland are able to graduate after three years of study wih an Ordinary Degree and in this School this is called a BA. It is not an honours degree, and students who wish to complete their full degree programme should study for the full four years.

The MA course is a 4 year Undergraduate degree, MEng, MChem, MPhys are 5-year integrated masters.
