Foundation Year for International Students
The International Foundation Year will ensure international students improve their academic knowledge and English language skills to required levels before starting an undergraduate degree at the University. This course is a bridge to undergraduate degrees in fields such as business, computing, creative arts, engineering, law, and life, natural & social sciences.
Entry requirements: High School leaving qualification or equivalent, English Language level equivalent to IELTS 4.5.
How does it work?
- You become a university student from day one while you prepare for your degree
- You mix with other students on campus, at the library, social clubs and sporting events
- You will grow in confidence, and improve your academic and English language skills
- Once you begin, you are carefully monitored to make sure that you continue to your degree
Choosing a course and applying
Think of the degree that you want to study after the Foundation Year. For example, to study a degree in Motorsport Technology, you will need to take the Engineering, Computing & Science foundation year course; and for a Music degree, you would take the Creative Arts course, and so on... After this course:
The International Foundation Year course at the University of Huddersfield leads to over 100 undergraduate courses. On successful completion of the course, you will join your chosen degree. Students are assessed regularly throughout the course to ensure that they are on track to achieve the results/grades required for their chosen degree.
English Language Preparation:
If your English Language level is under IELTS 4.5, you can first join our intensive English Language Preparation course before starting the Foundation Year.
