Aditya Bansal

Huddersfield ISC student Aditya Bansal (Adi)Age: 17
Nationality: Indian
Route: Engineering and Science Foundation

"My careers adviser in India said that Huddersfield was a good choice for me so I'm studying the Engineering and Science foundation course and I'd like to do a degree in multimedia.

I like studying in England very much as it is very different to India. In India you have to do a lot of things for yourself and you don't get much help. It is a lot more organised here in England. The teachers are very good at guiding you and there is also a lot more flexibility here.

I'm enjoying classes very much. Maths is easy for me so I get on very well. I enjoy it although it is sometimes hard to get through it. I like the teachers very much, they help me a lot.

In the evening I do drawing, photography and work on making movies on my computer. We also have a bar in our accommodation block and I like to go there and play pool with friends. I have friends here from India also - a friend who is doing his third year of engineering and another who is studying music. They are all lovely people and it is a lot of fun!"

Fatima Alqaseer

Huddersfield ISC student Fatima Alqaseer

Age: 18
Nationality: Bahraini
Route: Business, Law & Social Studies

"I first came to Huddersfield a year ago to study for my A-levels and now I'm studying a Business foundation year at the ISC. Then I'd like to do a degree in Business and Financial Services and afterwards go back to Bahrain to use my degree.

Both my brother and my Dad have studied at Huddersfield as well, so I'm carrying on a family tradition. I like it here because it's peaceful and you can relax and chill out a bit. Despite the weather, it's really nice here. Compared to other places in the UK, Huddersfield is really friendly. I was in London for a while and people just weren't as friendly.

I like the University life and the lecturers are great - they really help you and they are so patient. By the end of the lectures you really feel like you've learned something. They know international students don't know the system very well so they're very patient.

Being a student is really good in the UK. You get treated very well and people treat you like an adult. I'd really recommend studying here. I want to do my Masters here, and my Dad is pretty pleased with that too!"

Eyituoyo Atare Mamoh

Huddersfield ISC Student Eyituoyo Atare Mamoh (Atare)Age: 17
Nationality: Nigerian
Route: Engineering and Science Foundation

"I flew here in September, from Nigeria to Manchester and then took a taxi to Huddersfield. This is my first time in England and it's really good. There are always positive and negatives but what I really like about England is that it is so clean, and very efficient.

It might sound silly, but little things are different to my home. Here the trains follow a schedule and they are nearly always on time. This doesn't happen in Nigeria.

In the evenings I like to watch movies and soccer on TV, although I've had to limit myself recently as I like soccer a little too much! I support Chelsea and hope to see them when I am in London in December.

I enjoy the classes very much. I didn't quite understand maths, and especially calculus, when I was in Nigeria but I came here with an understanding of the basics and now it is much better. The teachers here are very good and they relate very well with students. In Nigeria it is a different culture, but here teachers relate to you as if you are just like them. It is very friendly and supportive.

After the foundation programme I'd like to take a degree in Software Engineering or Computer Networking. After my degree the sky is the limit! I think I'd like to stay in the UK for a few years and get some work experience and then go back to Nigeria."

Wei (Will) Pan

Huddersfield ISC Student Pan Wei (Will)Age: 20
Nationality: Chinese
Route: Business, Law & Social Studies

"I choose Huddersfield after doing some research on the internet. My teachers also suggested that it would be a good choice for me as I needed to do the English Language Preparation course also. There are a lot of Chinese students here so it is a good choice for someone who is Chinese.

The first thing I need to do is improve my English because at the moment there is a barrier to learning and understanding people. I have only been in England one month so I am constantly improving my English, and I hope after a year it will be very good.

I really enjoy studying, it is often very fun. The teachers are funny and make us laugh which helps us understand as well as enjoy our English class. I also like the Maths and Business classes as they are the most interesting to me. Outside of class I like to go to the sports centre. I like basketball and play with my friends.

I hope to do my degree in Business, and I then want to do a Masters degree in Management. Then I will become rich like Bill Gates! I want to work in computers and technology; I want to develop something new and then sell it. When I've finished my degree I will go back to China and help my father in his business. My father works in the iron business and needs a lot of help so we will have a business partnership. I'll help him, but also do my thing."
