Postgraduate research student at Huddersfield University

Research activity is one of the hallmarks of universities and is vital to the mission of the University of Huddersfield. The strategy for the next five years will see Huddersfield's research activity grow significantly as existing strengths are developed  through expansion and increased inter-discipline work.

Huddersfield's research engenders a spirit of enquiry, discovery and enthusiasm among staff and students. It promotes a realisation that academic subjects are not static but constantly changing and developing, pushed forward by research.

Huddersfield’s research reputation is growing fast, with the appointment of a number of prominent world class professors from as far afield as Australia. The University has research contracts with a number of world-renowned manufacturers and other service providers such as the financial services sector.

A number of Huddersfield researchers have been recognised for their contributions through prestigious awards such as the Asian Women of Achievement Award presented to Professor Jane Jiang who was also awarded the Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award.

Top research feeds into teaching and learning here at Huddersfield. You can be assured of a quality learning experience.

Huddersfield has an international reputation for Engineering, Chemistry, History, Music and Social Work. Our Centre for Precision Technologies (CPT) is widely regarded as the best in the UK and one of the top three in Europe.
