Sport facilities and competitions
University of Huddersfield sports facilities include:
- Sports hall for basketball, volley-ball, netball and five-a-side football
- 5 Badminton courts
- 2 Squash courts
- Punchbags for boxing and martial arts
- Fitness Centre with gym and weights suite
- Fitness class and personal exercise programme including Pilates, Aerobics, Boxercise, and dance
- Changing, shower and sauna facilities
- Flood-lit all-weather astroturf pitches at Storthes Hall Park Student Village.
Sports Hall
The Sports Hall is home for most sport and fitness activities at the Univeristy and it is conveniently located on campus. Well-used by students and staff, it is a venue for British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) matches and training.
Fitness Centre
The Fitness Centre is equipped with a state-of-the-art range of cardiovascular and resistance training machines. It is open 7 days a week.

Recreational Activities
Tennis – Students can access Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club.
Swimming – Students can use the Huddersfield Town Sports Centre.
Football – Students can use the University Sports Hall for indoor football and book the University Astroturf Pitch at Storthes Hall for playing outdoors.
Running – Students who want to run as apart of a group have the opportunity to join the Athletics Club.
Competitive Sport
Rugby League: Huddersfield Giants - The University is the main partner of the Huddersfield Giants. Students and Staff can therefore purchase tickets at discounted rates for home fixtures at the Galpharm Stadium.
Huddersfield Heat Basketball - the Basketball club train and compete at the University Sports Hall. The club has steadily grown from a standalone local club to a full senior England Basketball National League club. A variety of opportunities exist for students of the University.
Rugby Union - The University Rugby Union team play at Lockwood Park, home to Huddersfield Rugby Club. There are playing opportunities avaialble for talented players.
Huddersfield Town Football Club - The University have strong links with Huddersfield Town F.C. The club operate a very successful football academy.
