The International Study Centre has dedicated staff who will ensure that you get the support you need during your studies. In addition the University also provides a range of advisory, health, counselling and spiritual services.
The University provides a wide range of support services to meet the needs of international students. Special English language teachers, members of Student Services staff, administrative staff and course/personal tutors all offer assistance as the need arises.
Student Services is committed to supporting students throughout their time at Huddersfield. It provides a network of support enabling students to develop in a caring, friendly environment and to leave the University better equipped to face the future. We have a one-stop-shop, located in the Library and Computing Centre, where you can go to ask any questions you have about finance, visa and immigration advice, careers information or general student support.
If your student visa is due to expire while you are studying at the University of Huddersfield, you will receive advice, guidance and support in submitting your application form to the Home Office. If you experience difficulty in your academic work you can seek help from your Personal Tutor, your Course Leader or a member of the academic support team. Most departments in the University also have an Academic Skills Tutor who can give you help and advice to make sure that you can get through your problems.
Leaving home and travelling to study in a new country can be a stressful experience – even though it may be something you have planned and prepared for. The Counselling Service and the Student Support Team are there to help if you are worried or unhappy. All international students studying on courses lasting longer than six months are entitled to receive free health care under the UK National Health Service. It is important that you register with a doctor in the University Health Centre, which is conveniently located on campus. When you become a student at Huddersfield, you are not on your own!

The Counselling Service gives you the chance to talk in confidence to professional advisers and counsellors about any issue that may be troubling you. The staff are very approachable - you can either drop in or make an appointment - and it means there's always someone to listen.
Huddersfield is a community made up of many faiths. Naturally this is reflected in the student population, and there are student groups for Christians, Muslims and Jews.
The Health Centre provides medical care under the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and is available to all students. As an international student, you will need to register with the Centre’s doctors when you arrive. It provides a comprehensive health service, with a team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapist, visiting psychotherapist and psychiatrist.
