Life on Campus at Keele

Keele Hall
Largest UK campus

With over 600 acres of landscaped parkland, fields, woodlands and lakes, Keele is the UK’s largest and most beautiful campus university.

Keele’s campus gives you the best of both worlds: tranquil green spaces give way to a buzzing centre of shops, the Students’ Union, cafés and restaurants. The small number of students, and supportive staff, create a genuinely safe and friendly community atmosphere on campus.

A self-contained community

The campus is self-contained, with all teaching buildings and laboratories, the Library, shops, a doctor, a bank, student accommodation, Interdenominational Chapel, and newly built Mosque on the site. Keele is also a very safe environment and whilst lots of entertainment is provided on campus, it is a peaceful place and our international students say this really helps them to focus on their studies.

Historic buildings

Modern teaching and living blocks contrast with the central features: 19th-century Keele Hall and the Clockhouse.

Leisure and sport on campus

Although your studies will keep you busy, it is easy to take advantage of the social opportunities and sports facilities that Keele provides.

Eating

All University accommodation is self-catering but there are also some excellent quality and good value eating places on campus. Many of the teaching rooms are located in the Chancellor’s Building where there is the Comus Restaurant, Le Café coffee shop and Vite and Eat takeaway selling sandwiches, cold snacks and hot and cold drinks. You can use your KeeleCard to pay for meals.

Meal Plan

A good way to budget for your food costs is to buy a Meal Plan. This guarantees you breakfast and a two-course dinner in the Comus Restaurant on Monday to Friday for 12, 18 or 30 weeks. The longer the plan, the bigger the saving, but you will save between 25% and 40% on the cost of buying the same meals on a daily basis.

Shopping

“The environment at Keele is so warming. It’s a real village atmosphere.”
Nadima Motlib, English & Psychology student

You can buy all life’s essentials on campus and nearby. See a list of on-campus shopping options on the right of the page. There are also two large supermarkets (just a ten minute bus ride away) in Newcastle-under-Lyme, plus specialist food shops.
