International Year One

Course Overview

* Note that International Year One 3-term course students will study the same modules as 4-term course except for Term 1 modules. Also, Half Term modules for 3.5-term course are not yet available.

Assessment:

Coursework assignments, oral presentations, group work and unseen final module examinations. There will be emphasis on the use of complex reading material and the production of fully researched and referenced written work.

Which degrees can I do after this course?

The International Year One in Business and Management leads to Year 2 of a Single Honours, Dual Honours, or Major in Accounting; Finance; Economics; Business Management; Human Resource Management; International Business; or Marketing.

With the Dual Honours option, you will be able to combine any of the degrees below with each other or with a range of other degrees from many different fields. Including; Geography; Mathematics; Film Studies and many others. Common combinations tend to be as follows:

What is Dual Honours Degree?
It’s your chance to study two degree subjects in equal amounts, over three years. You get the same depth of knowledge in each as you would if you took it as a Single Honours degree, with choices of options in each subject. Dual Honours is something we really believe in at Keele, because it broadens your studies and your career prospects.

What will it do for me?
Open doors … Widen horizons and expand opportunities … A Dual Honours degree will give you more strings to your bow. Employers are looking for people who understand different disciplines and can work with others to make things happen.

For admission to the International Year One: 4 Terms

Academic: top high school graduation grades or similar qualifications
IB or A/AS levels: 26 / 100 UCAS points
English level: IELTS 5.0 overall (with minimum of 5.0 in writing) or equivalent
Age: students are usually 17 years of age or above

For admission to the International Year One: 3.5 Terms

Academic: top high school graduation grades or similar qualifications
IB or A/AS levels: 26 / 100 UCAS points
English level: IELTS 5.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.0 in writing) or equivalent
Age: students are usually 17 years of age or above

For admission to the International Year One: 3 Terms

Academic: Excellent High School graduation grades or similar qualifications and or evidence of further study
IB or A/AS levels: 28 / 140 UCAS points
English level: IELTS 5.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in writing) or equivalent
Age: students are usually 17 years of age or above

Fees

* Please note that tuition fees do not include the cost of text books, which will be approximately £50 per term.
** For calculation purposes please note that a standard tenancy length is 37 weeks, but tenancy lengths do vary depending on room type. Additional charges may be made for such items as accommodation security deposits, bedding packs and other sundry expenses.

Please note accommodation costs are guideline rents only and are provided as a examples of the different types of accommodation the university has to offer. 

Confirmation payment

Once you have received an offer of a place at the International Study Centre, a confirmation payment is required to secure your place. This consists of:

• £120 Enrolment Fee (non-refundable)
• £1,000 Refundable Deposit - held to cover damages and any other incidental expenses. Any monies left at the end of your course will be returned to you.
• £500 advance fees.
• Study Care Insurance Payment (if applicable)

Making a payment

Fees can be paid by cheque, Sterling bank draft, telegraphic transfer or credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards. Payments by credit and debit card are subject to a surcharge, but this is waived if fees are paid one month in advance of the course start date.
