International Year One

Unique pathway to Year 2 of your degree

Programmes

1. International Year One [4 terms]

International Year One [4 terms] is a pathway to the second-year of undergraduate degrees for High School graduates with top grades in their countries but not meeting Keele's direct entry requirements. Covering academic subjects, study skills and English language training, it provides international students with the skills and knowledge needed for degree study at Keele. An English level of IELTS 5.0 (or equivalent) is required. Next entry point: September 2011 (all courses).

2. International Year One [3 terms]

International Year One [3 terms] is similar to International Year One [4 terms] but comes as a three-term programme designed for High School graduates with very high grades and strong English language skills from their home countries but not yet meeting all entry requirements for Keele University degrees. Students must have an advanced understanding of academic subjects, and an English level of IELTS 5.5 and above. Next entry point: September 2011 (Business, Computing & Media courses only).

Students make use of the quiet beautiful Keele gardens Keele's undergraduate degrees are three years in length, so International Year One students need only complete two more years of study before graduating, saving both time and tuition fees.

Assured progression to BA/BSc and Dual (Hons) degrees at second-year level

The fast-track International Year One gives you access to a wide range of degrees as well as Keele's unique dual honours degrees at Second Year level in fields such as Accounting, Business Management, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, International Relations, IT, and Politics among others.

University-style teaching

International Year One is validated by Keele University and taught by specialists in university preparation. You will be introduced to the style of teaching that you will experience when you progress onto your degree. Teaching is in tutorials, seminar style classes and larger group lectures.

Assessment

You will be assessed regularly throughout the course to ensure that you achieve the grades required for progression onto your chosen degree. Your development is monitored through continuous coursework and specific assessments at the end of each term or module.
