The Keele University Students’ Union (KUSU) represents and supports students and is the focal point for the social life of students.
The Students’ Union is genuinely run by students for students, and its aim is to provide as many opportunities as possible for you to make the most of your life at Keele University. The nature and location of Keele means that the campus has a real sense of a student community.
Students' Union venues
The Keele University Students’ Union (KUSU) is one of the country’s premier student venues, offering non-stop entertainment throughout the academic year. The Students’ Union building is situated in the centre of campus within easy walking distance from all Halls of Residence. It houses:

- Barista: quiet and comfortable serving coffees, wine, cocktails and food
- The Outback: purpose-built outdoor seating area
- Harvey’s and The Kiln: KUSU’s catering outlets
- Lounge bar: shows big-screen Sports and has a games and pool table area
Student societies
KUSU supports over 40 societies covering a hugely varied range of activities, including a few you won't have thought of. See the list on the right of this page. It is also extremely easy for you to start up your own society!
Voluntary Experience programme
The opportunity to gain extra, valuable skills through placements in the community and around campus. As employers continue to look for more than a degree, the Voluntary Experience programme can provide your CV with an extra lift. “There is always something going on every night of the week, from quizzes to karaoke to fancy dress nights.”Carly Burton, 2nd year, Law and History.
Culture and music
All styles and tastes of music are catered for: Keele has societies for Active Rock Appreciation, Folk, Jazz, R’n’B and a philharmonic orchestra, concert and big bands which perform on campus. If you are interested in acting join Keele’s Drama Society or catch a summer outdoor performance on campus.Student life videos:
