"Keele has the most beautiful campus and nice environment which is very suitable for learning. The accommodation is also very nice... Keele is also close to Manchester. If you like shopping, this is the good thing.
The Business and Management Foundation Diploma at the ISC gave me the opportunity to enter to the Year 2 directly which is the most exciting thing. After my degree, the first choice is study for a Masters course at keele if possible."
Q&A with Hnin Myu Aung from Burma

Why did you choose to study at Keele University?
I chose Keele because my aunt recommended it. When I came to Keele I found that Keele is a really nice place... Studying here is very convenient because it is not very far away from Newcastle town centre. Not only that, but there is also a market every Tuesday on campus.
Please tell us your experience of studying in Keele University?
I like studying at Keele University. As you know, I am the only one who came from Myanmar (Burma) to do the International Year One programme. However, I got a lot of friends from different places. In summer, we would lie on the grass, reading and chatting. Like wise, in winter, we would build snow man and played snow fight at the Keele Hall. I cannot forget that kind of happiness in my life.
What do you think of the facilities on campus such as accommodation, library, Students Union, places to eat on campus and any other services?
About the facilities on campus, I think everything is nice. The library facilities are top class. There are areas for discussion groups if students want to talk and discuss in the library. I also really like spending time in the student union. On Chinese New Year, we celebrate the New Year in there. It was really nice and I had a lot of fun. The student union has two small shops for eating and the food is very good. Keele also has several restaurants and shops on campus.
What is it like studying at the International Study Centre, Keele University?
From my point of view, studying in the ISC is really good for the students who are not ready for Keele University. The reason is they progress your skill and prepare for you to be confident in studying at the University. Not only can you get a lot of knowledge, but also you can improve your skill in there. The tutors are specialists in the teaching and explaining about the subjects. So I think ISC is the kind of good guideline for us.
Is the programme at the International Study Centre helping you to progress to study at Keele University? If yes, how?
Yes, ISC (international study centre) do help me to progress to study at Keele University. At first, when I arrive in the UK, my English was not good enough to communicate with other people. However, after I studied ELPP at the ISC, my English is totally improved. Secondly, studying in the ISC, I got a lot of knowledge. For example, in term 1, although my main subject is accounting, we also studied other subjects including business, maths and cultural studies of the UK and other countries.
What plans do you have for the future in terms of a career?
After finishing the degree, I would like to study for a Masters at the Keele University. To be honest, I really would like to be an accountant in a big company. Due to my target, I will try my best in every all subjects.

I can say studying in Keele University inspired me a lot. Keele University encourage student to be self-motivated. I learnt how to be independent not only on academic but also in daily life. Everyday after school I cook for myself and do all the cleaning. It’s like an everyday routine and depends on how you want to live. Also you can meet different people from different countries; this allows me to have culture exchange with different friends. You are not restricted to knowing people from your country. There is a huge mix from around the world. I can say I really enjoy my life staying in Keele.

Studying at the International Study Centre allows me to be well-prepared and equipped before getting into university. Teachers and lecturers provide good guidance for me to follow. Students are de-centralized into small classes, thus teacher may easily provide tailored-guidance according students’ ability. I can easily get comments or reviews from teachers and this is useful for me to reflect my progress.
Is the programme at the International Study Centre helping you to progress to study at Keele University? If yes, how?
Absolutely yes, in the third term we have to decide the major we will study next year. And according to different faculty, different subjects will be taken in the third term. This allows me to catch up on the courses in year 1 but the difference is that I got better support and resources.
What plans do you have for the future in terms of a career?
In the future, I am considering taking master before entering the job market. It depends on my undergraduate result. If I got first honour or 2-1 I will continue to my master degree.
