International Year One in International Relations and Politics
International Relations is not merely the study of current affairs or exotic foreign parts: it is a distinctive way of looking at the world. On the other, the Politics course gives students the opportunity to analyse the complex events and forces that shape the world in which we live. See course details below.

Assessment:
Coursework assignments, oral presentations, group work and unseen final module examinations. There will be emphasis on the use of complex reading material and the production of fully researched and referenced written work.
Which degrees can I do after this course?
The International Year One in International Relations and Politics leads to the second year of either Single Honours, Dual Honours, Major, in International Relations or Politics. International Relations or Politics is studied either as a Single Honours course, or as part of a Dual Honours degree in combination with a wide range of subjects such as History or Law. Under the Dual Honours system, students may choose to concentrate more on one subject (as a major) than another (as a minor).
You could combine a dual honours degree in International Relations or in Politics with almost any subject such as Mathematics, Business Management, Geography or Marketing; however, some of the common combinations are:

What is Dual Honours Degree?
It’s your chance to study two degree subjects in equal amounts, over three years. You get the same depth of knowledge in each as you would if you took it as a Single Honours degree, with choices of options in each subject. Dual Honours is something we really believe in at Keele, because it broadens your studies and your career prospects.

Academic: top high school graduation grades or similar qualifications
IB or A/AS levels: 26 / 100 UCAS points
English level: IELTS 5.0 overall (with minimum of 5.0 in writing) or equivalent
Age: students are usually 17 years of age or above

Academic: top high school graduation grades or similar qualifications

English level: IELTS 5.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.0 in writing) or equivalent

Confirmation payment
Once you have received an offer of a place at the International Study Centre, a confirmation payment is required to secure your place. This consists of:
- £120 Enrolment Fee (non-refundable)
- £1,000 Refundable Deposit - held to cover damages and any other incidental expenses. Any monies left at the end of your course will be returned to you.
- £500 advance fees.
- Study Care Insurance Payment (if applicable)
Making a payment
Fees can be paid by cheque, Sterling bank draft, telegraphic transfer or credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards. Payments by credit and debit card are subject to a surcharge, but this is waived if fees are paid one month in advance of the course start date.
