Keele University library
University Library

The University Library is well-stocked and provides the great majority of books, reports and articles you will need for all your studies. There printed sources are supplemented by a wide range of digital resources, such as electronic books, over 6,000 online journals, subject databases, as well as CD and DVD recordings.

Through Keele's inter-library loans service you can draw on the resources of other libraries throughout the UK and abroad.

Students can check for books and renew loans online using the Library Catalogue. Short Loan holds multiple copies of core texts for taught courses, which can be borrowed for 24 hours.

Help for students
A ‘Meet and Greet’ scheme provides on-the-spot help when you first come into the Library and a quick-start ‘Library Essentials’ guide is sent to all new students. Help and advice is available from the Library enquiries desk. The Library website provides ready access to and support for using the online resources.

Student facilities at Keele
IT Services

Information Technology Services provides IT facilities for students on campus. There are PC laboratories in several departments, but the largest groups of open access PCs, and PCs for teaching, are in the Library. They have a full range of modern software and high bandwidth Internet connection, and are connected to high speed self-service printers.

You will be given a personal email address and fully archived document storage facilities.

A wireless network in the Library, teaching rooms and cafés enables you to connect wireless laptops to the internet. All student rooms in Halls of Residences have network sockets for access to Keele networked resources and the internet. This is the ‘HallsNet’ service. To use it, all you need is a network adapter and cable for your PC. You will not need a contract with a commercial ISP.

Computing help and advice
Available from the IT Service Desk, in the Library, seven days a week, and into the evenings Monday to Thursday. You can also contact the Service Desk by telephone or email. For full details, see the IT Services web pages.
