On-campus preparation for University degree success
Specialist Preparation for your Degree
The International Foundation Year at the International Study Centre (ISC) offers specialist preparation and support to overseas students who want to access undergraduate degrees at the University of Leicester:
- the Foundation in Economics and Management prepares students for degrees in Banking & Finance, Economics and Management Studies
- the Foundation in Engineering and Technology is the ideal preparation for degrees in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and Geosciences
- the Foundation in Society and Culture provides the best preparation for degrees in Sociology, Politics, International Relations and Psychology
- the Foundation in Science prepares for degrees in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Medical Biochemistry and Medical Genetics
Please note these routes apply enrolment from September 2012, previously we offered three routes. The new structure allows us to offer students a wider choice of degrees and to have a more focused approach in the teaching at the same time.

Leicester Top for Student Satisfaction after Oxford and Cambridge
According to the recently published results of the 2011 National Student Survey, Leicester was the top University in England for student satisfaction after Oxford and Cambridge.
This major independent survey is carried out each year and covers seven areas including teaching, assessment, support, management and resources. The results provide valuable information to prospective students and help the universities to improve the education they provide.
Students from Physics, American Studies, Geology and Social Policy ranked their disciplines among the best in the country. In Genetics, 100% of students were satisfied with their course.
The University also scored highly on the question about library resources and services, a reflection on the University's flagship development, the £36 million David Wilson Library.

“My teachers and head of centre were nothing short of amazing, and were responsible for the warm environment of the centre! The end of year had me almost wishing some of my tutors could ‘progress’ onto my degree along with me and my classmates! Classes were always very engaging, and sometimes challenging. I was always provided with help whenever I struggled with course material. I feel that the course greatly improved my scientific knowledge.”
