Gwynne Harries, Head of CentreGwynne Harries

Role: Head of Centre
Qualifications: JP, MA, MIITT, CertEd, PhD

"Although my full name is David Gwynne Harries, I’m known to my family and friends as ‘Gwynne’. I am from a Welsh family and the name Gwynne means white. I am a keen photographer and I sometimes write for books and magazines, where I use a pen name.

I love rugby, sailing, stamp collecting and I am a licensed Radio Amateur (G4WYN). I live about 14 miles (20 kilometres) from Leicester in the town of Ashby de la Zouch. I also have a house by the sea in West Wales.

I have been teaching for thirty years in schools and at University. I have worked in schools and with teachers in many parts of the country. I also run my own education consultancy business. My first degree was in Education from Nottingham University and my Masters was from here in Leicester where I also studied for my doctorate."

Mark Lamb, International Student tutorMark Lamb

Role: Business Studies & Economics Tutor
Qualifications: BTEC, HNC, BA (Hons)

"My experience of teaching cuts across many levels. In addition to teaching both business studies and economics to GNVQ, GCSE, AS and A2 level, I have also lectured on E-business and IT training courses and have worked as a business training advisor.

I am a graduate of Nottingham Trent University and now live in the northeast of Leicestershire, in the town of Melton Mowbray, famous for its ‘pies’ and many local cheeses. I’m keen on my football and support Nottingham Forest Football Club.

My various business interests lead me to running a computer web design agency. Our success means that there are growing number of local businesses, schools and colleges who have their web presence designed and produced by my company."

Shaida Mohammadi, International Student tutorShaida Mohammadi

Role: Head of English
Qualifications: MA TEFL, MPhil, BSc

"I originally graduated in Biology from the National University of Iran; however, since then my studies have led me to develop interests and qualifications in the teaching English. I was awarded my MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Birmingham. Later I completed an MPhil in Linguistics and English Studies at Nottingham University.

In my teaching career I have been involved with the British Council in Tehran, where I worked as an Education Projects Manager, and similarly for the British Council in Dubai, Nepal, Uzbekistan and here in the UK. I have also worked extensively with various universities, summer schools and education departments. I speak fluent Persian, good German and of course English!

I’m a lover of all sports, especially boxing. I am married and currently live in nearby Birmingham!"

Isra Richards, International Student tutorIsra Richards

Role: English Tutor
Qualifications: MA, BA

"I am passionate about teaching English and enjoy my time reading. I find pleasure in teaching international students and find my job interesting and challenging at the same time. Saying that, I have been an international student myself and I feel my experiences give me insight and understanding of the difficulties and problems students can face coming to a foreign country to study English, a language that they have perhaps never used before except in a classroom.

As one of the team of English teachers at Leicester ISC, I am sure that you will enjoy your time here and be able to successfully move on to your undergraduate degree."
