Foundation Diploma and Diploma
Preparing for second year entry to an undergraduate degree at the University of Lincoln
The Foundation Diploma and Diploma programmes provide an intensive learning experience designed for students who need English Language and academic subject preparation to get ready for year 2 entry.
Depending on the degree students want to prepare for, we offer three different subject-specific routes. Key facts and course content details for each route can be found at the following dedicated pages:
Foundation Diploma students start their programme in September. During term one they develop English language and academic study skills to ensure they have the ability to move onto the Diploma level modules in January.
In term two, students join the Diploma programme, which provides them with specialist skills and academic development in their chosen subject. This is done by encouraging an effective knowledge base and using contemporary case studies. The same study structure is used during the following two terms.
On application, the level of your English and your academic qualifications will be assessed and our student enrolment advisers will let you know if you will need to take the 4-term Foundation Diploma or if you can start in January on the 3-term Diploma. For details of the steps involved in applying for a place on the Foundation Diploma/Diploma go to our Admission pages.
Whether you are offered a place on the Diploma or on the Foundation Diploma, on successful completion of the programme, you will be able to progress directly onto the second year of your chosen degree.
