International Year One

Preparing students for second year entry to an undergraduate degree at the University of Lincoln

The International Year One is an intensive learning experience designed for students who need English Language and academic subject preparation to get ready for year 2 entry.

Depending on the degree students want to prepare for, we offer five different subject-specific routes. Key facts and course content details for each route can be found at the following dedicated pages:

Students studying the International Year One will study for either three terms, three and a half terms or four terms depending on their English language level.

Whether you will be required to study the three term, the three and a half term programme or the four term programme will depend on your English language level. See our entry requirements page for more information.

Students who qualify for the three term programme can begin their studies in either September or January to progress on to the second year of a degree the following September. Students who undertake the three and a half term programme will start in October and progress on to the second year of their degree the following September. Students studying the four term programme will start in September and progress on to the second year of their degree the following September.

If you do not have the required English language level for the four term programme, our Student Enrolment Advisers may suggest that you first study one of our English Language Preparation programmes starting in April or June (depending on the level of preparation required) prior to starting the International Year One in September.
