The Halls of Residence that LJMU recommends are privately owned. Located in Liverpool city centre, the residences are close to LJMU’s teaching and research facilities. You will have a private space in which to relax, study and sleep but also access to communal facilities and living spaces where you can make friends with other students.
Guaranteed accommodation
Living away from friends and family for the first time can be daunting. We guarantee all new international students a place in halls of residence, providing you accept your place before any published accommodation deadlines.
Rent
The availability of student housing in Liverpool means that we can offer you relatively low cost but high quality accommodation. The fees page sets out the weekly rent for a study bedroom. Rent includes all utility bills, broadband access and personal contents insurance (laptops not included).
Your residence options
There are 2 choices of residential accommodation available to ISC students: Grand Central (en-suite bedrooms) or Marybone 1 (standard rooms with shared bathrooms).
Grand Central (en-suite)
Grand Central is the largest student accommodation development in Liverpool with a total of 1210 rooms. It is located next door to Lime Street Train Station, approximately a 15 minute walk to the ISC and two minutes’ walk from the shops, bars and restaurants of Liverpool City Centre.
Layout and features
All flats have between 4 and 6 bedrooms, and all rooms are en-suite. Grand Central features an on-site gym, for which a charge of £65 per year is payable. There is also a Spar convenience store on-site, a quiet room for study, a large common room with satellite TV, pool tables and games machines, and an on-site snooker hall.

Marybone 1 (standard)
Marybone 1 is part of a large development of 400 bedrooms. The residence is across the road from the ISC and the Learning Resource Centre, which offers 24/7 hour access to computing facilities during normal term times. Marybone 1 is located at the very heart of LJMU’s City Campus.
Layout and features
The accommodation is arranged into single-gender flats housing 6 students. There is a phone line and free broadband in every bedroom. Each flat has two shared bathrooms and all bedrooms also feature an integrated sink and storage unit. A large and well-equipped games room has recently been installed on the ground floor, available free of charge. Facilities include a pool table and a large screen television with Sky satellite subscription. The residence benefits from on-site management, security and caretaker teams.

Please note, we are unable to confirm your place at the ISC, until you provide contact details of where you intend to stay or details of the arrangements you are proposing to make. This must be completed pre-arrival.
