English Language Preparation [Term based flexible entry points]


Introduction

Students need to have achieved International English Langauge Testing System (IELTS) 4.5 in order to begin the International Foundation Year. If you require additional language training before you start your academic programme you can first join the English Language Preparation (ELP) course, delivered at the same International Study Centre where you will study for you foundation.

If you have an IELTS level of 3.5 you will need at least one term of English language training.
If you don’t have a current IELTS grade, you may still apply to the ISC.

Entry points:

September: 1-term ELP for Foundation start in January
June: 1-term ELP for Foundation start in September

ELP term dates: Autumn term: 6 September to 3 December 2010
Entry requirements: Minimum IELTS 3.5 (or equivalent).
Course structure: 25 hours per week tuition plus 10 hours per week of self-study
Assessment: Internal test based on the English-Speaking Union's nine-point scale
Progression: On successful completion of the ELP course, you will progress onto the International Foundation Year
