What our students say

Hussain Alsaffar from Saudi Arabia joined Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) International Study Centre (ISC) in 2012 and is enjoying studying on the International Foundation Year in Engineering, Computing and Life Sciences.

Aiming to progress to the University’s prestigious degree programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Hussain chose LJMU largely because of its reputation for Engineering. He said: “The programme fits with my career aspirations of working as an electrical engineer. Higher Education is particularly good in the UK and I wanted a university with expertise in engineering”.

“The foundation course has increased my confidence and improved my English. It’s an intensive course but the teachers and staff are kind and helpful and so I am very happy in the centre and looking forward to starting my degree”.

It’s not all about study, of course, and Hussain enjoys spending time with his many friends from the ISC. He said: “Liverpool is a cosmopolitan, lively city with lots to do”. He’s a sports fan too, particularly enjoying football, so living in a city that boasts two Premiership football clubs is ideal!
