Damian MAHER"I have been involved in English language teaching for almost 15 years now. My first teaching job was in Greece and I quickly realised that teaching was the job for me. Since then I have lived outside the UK for almost a decade and have worked in universities and schools in South Korea, Spain, India, Italy, Ireland and Mexico. Since returning to the UK to complete my Masters Degree I have taught English for Academic Purposes at various universities and am also an examiner for Trinity College London. Living and working abroad can be one of the most exciting, enriching and exhilarating experiences in life. Being around students at LJMU ISC who are experiencing a new environment and culture is a very rewarding and enjoyable experience." |

Colleen McCAULEY"I am from Derry city in Northern Ireland. I received my undergraduate degree from the Queen's University Belfast. I then moved to Liverpool where I studied for an MSc in Parasitology, a PGCE in science and an MRes degree in the physical sciences. Not being from Liverpool, I can appreciate how difficult it can be to adjust to life in a new city and I am always willing to pass on any information/advice that could help with this change. In my spare time I like to listen to music and read. I am also interested in most aspects of art and design. I have found the art and music scene to be very vibrant in Liverpool. I am also concerned with environmental issues and animal welfare and am a keen member of several groups/charities relating to such issues." |

Diane ROSCOE"After graduating from Liverpool University with a degree in Chemistry, I began working in IT as a Systems Analyst, within the Banking sector. I left work in 1997 following the birth of my first child and spent nine rewarding years at home with my young family. When I decided to return to the workplace, I wanted to move into an area that I was interested in and cared about. The obvious choice for me was education. In 2006 I began working in an adult education centre. In 2008 I moved to LJMU ISC as the administrative officer. I was heavily involved with setting up the ISC operational systems including finance, attendance monitoring, and running exams. I also help new students enrol at the University, register with the police, open bank accounts and advise on any other issues that may arise. My main aim is to help students settle into University life and to feel supported until they are able to deal with any issues confidently and independently. I have lived in Liverpool most of my life and I am very proud of my beautiful home city so I am always pleased to advise students on places in the area to visit and how to get there. I really enjoy my work here. No two days are the same. I have learned so much about other cultures and countries. Most importantly, I get to meet many wonderful young people from all over the world." |
