The International Pre-Masters/Pre-MBA is for International and EU students preparing for a Masters or an MBA degree at LJMU.

The programme combines academic subjects, research skills and English use in academic environments, helping postgraduate students succeed in a UK university environment where, at this level of study, most of the responsibility rests on students' ability to find their niche, communicate effectively and self-manage.

Choosing a Pre-Masters/Pre-MBA route to postgraduate study at LJMU

A route or pathway is a package of modules or subjects that the University recommend students to study in preparation for degree study in specific fields. The Pre-Masters/Pre-MBA programme at LJMU ISC currently offers two routes which only differ in the time taken to complete the course. This is entirely based on the needs and ability of individual students. For students with advanced English language skills and strong academic qualifications, a 14-week fast-track route onto a Masters or MBA is recommended. Students needing additional English language preparation will take advantage of the  20-24 weeks route designed specifically for that extra push.

For a Masters degree at LJMU, the Pre-Masters/Pre-MBA is the best preparation for international and EU students because they will need a range of academic and learning skills in English language and the ability to adapt to a new cultural environment in order to thrive academically. It is a programme tailored for international and EU students who may not have experienced this in their home countries.

By combining academic subjects, study skills and English language skills, the course prepares students specifically for postgraduate study at LJMU thereby guaranteeing progression to Masters or MBA programmes on succesful completion of the course.

The Pre-Masters/Pre-MBA is taught on-campus using University facilities. Students will be sharing libraries and other  resources with LJMU students and will have the possibility to start networking with other students and improve their English communication skills before commencing degree study with confidence.
