If you want to start in January, you should apply now!

Don't need English Language support?

If you have a TOEFL score of at least iBT 79, you can apply directly for a degree at Manhattan College through the International Study Center.

You will still benefit from the all-inclusive fee for international students.

The English Transition Program

A focused and rigorous program that prepares you for success on a Bachelor's or Master's degree at Manhattan College in the USA. No TOEFL or IELTS score required.

Your pathway to degree study

The International Study Center (ISC) provides a pathway for students who do not yet have sufficient English language skills for entry to Manhattan College but who fulfill all other admissions requirements.

The English Transition Program offers the ideal environment in which to develop your language and study skills in preparation for degree classes and ensures full cultural assimilation into Manhattan College:

Improve your English language listening, speaking and writing skills
Build study skills such as research methods, exam tactics, time management and essay preparation
Begin credit classes as soon as you reach our equivalent of TOEFL iBT 61

Transition Program content

During the English Transition Program, you will take a combination of:

ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSES
A full schedule of English for academic purposes, writing skills, communication skills and American Culture. These courses provide rapid and effective integration into Manhattan College life and prepare you for the rigors of full time academic study.

UNIVERSITY CREDIT COURSES
As you develop, you accumulate invaluable academic credits while you are improving your English proficiency. With the permission of your academic advisor, you may be able to take one or two university-level introductory courses as early as your first semester. These classes count towards your degree.

Assured progression to a degree

You have access to a wide choice of undergraduate majors and graduate engineering degrees at Manhattan.

Acceptance into the English Transition Program is based on the academic qualifications for a Manhattan College degree course. Therefore, by enrolling on the Transition Program you know that you have satisfied the academic requirements for admission and have received an offer of a College place.

Integrate into campus life

You will be fully enrolled at Manhattan College and can enjoy all the advantages of living on campus. A comprehensive range of learning facilities are available to you, as well as extracurricular activities which allow you to get to know your American classmates. You are expected to communicate entirely in English, and such total immersion in the campus environment will be invaluable for your future studies.

Personal academic monitoring

Small class sizes mean your instructors are able to monitor your progress carefully and know when you are ready for academic courses. The creation of an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) provides you with monthly grade reports and active advising coordinated with the staff at Manhattan College.

Management of the International Study Center

The English Transition Program at the ISC is run by Study Group, working in partnership with Manhattan College. Study Group is a world leader in education and training for international students.
