International student entry requirements

Acceptance into the English Transition Program is based on the academic qualifications for entry to a Manhattan College degree.

Since the Transition Program will improve your language proficiency to satisfy the College's English level admission requirements, the English Language requirement is lower, and no TOEFL or IELTS score is required.

Personal

  • Non-American citizen with principal residence outside the USA

Academic

  • Successful completion of the equivalent of a US secondary education
  • Diploma or acceptable certification of graduation from High School in your home country
  • Minimal 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA)

Graduate applicants must also have:

  • GRE recommended for Engineering

English Language Level

An official TOEFL or IELTS score is not required; you will be asked to complete the Study Group English test to determine your level of English proficiency.

As you reach our equivalent of these TOEFL/IELTS levels, you progress towards your degree:

TOEFL iBT 32 (CBT97, PBT400), IELTS 3.0  Phase 1 of the Transition program
TOEFL iBT 52 (CBT150, PBT475), IELTS 4.5  Phase 2 of the Transition program alongside University credit classes
TOEFL iBT 79 (CBT213, PBT550), IELTS 6.0  Full-time university study on a Bachelor's degreeMaster's in Engineering degree or Master's in Education and Counseling degree

If you already have a sufficient English Language proficiency for a Manhattan College degree, you can apply for direct entry to an undergraduate or graduate program.
