Arriving by air

NEAREST INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS

New York City is served by 3 major international airports:

John F Kennedy
Primarily handling international flights, John F Kennedy (JFK) Airport is approximately 23 miles from Manhattan College. The journey takes between 30-90 minutes by car, depending on traffic conditions.

Newark, N.J.
Handling both domestic and international flights, Newark (EWR) Airport is approximately 27 miles from Manhattan College. The journey takes between 30-40 minutes by car, depending on traffic conditions.

La Guardia
Handling mainly domestic flights but also Continental Airlines international flights, La Guardia (LGA) Airport is approximately 13 miles from Manhattan College. The journey takes between 15-40 minutes by car, depending on traffic conditions.

TRANSFER TO CAMPUS

Your transfer on arrival in the US will be arranged during the admission process, and is included in your Manhattan College fee. This means a taxi will collect you from either JFK, LGA or EWR airport and take you to your accommodation at Manhattan College.

Getting to downtown New York City

Manhattan College's local area, Riverdale, has excellent public transport connections, and is just minutes from midtown Manhattan. Visit the New York City Transit website for public transport schedules and fares.

BY SUBWAY

The Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street subway station provides access to the rest of New York City. The subway station is a 3 minute walk from campus, located at the intersection of 242nd Street and Broadway.

The No.1 train serves Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street station. The station is the northern terminal station of the Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway.

Travel time to midtown Manhattan on the subway is roughly 30 minutes.

BY TRAIN

Marble Hill (located on West 225th Street at Broadway) is the closest train station to Manhattan College - 25 minutes on foot, or 5 minutes by taxi.

The Hudson Line of Metro-North railroad serves the station, and the journey time to Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan is around 23 minutes.

BY BUS

Manhattan can also be reached by MTA Bus Company's express routes BxM1, BxM2 and BxM3. All these routes stop near the campus, and terminate in Mid-town Manhattan near Grand Central Station and the main bus station: Port Authority Bus Terminal.

BY ROAD

The College is located between two major New York City roads, the Henry Hudson Parkway and the Major Deegan Expressway, which connect it to central New York City over the Henry Hudson Bridge or via the Broadway Bridge to the south. There are many local taxi companies.
