individual counseling and student academic support programs

Student support at Manhattan College

Manhattan College offers a comprehensive range of student service to support you during your time as a University student in the USA:

International Student Services

Information and programming designed to aid your adjustment to living and studying in New York City is provided throughout the year by the office of the International Student Advisor (ISA).

The office provides a warm and informative welcome to international students. ISA also serves as a resource to facilitate international exchange, enhance cross-cultural communication and support international endeavors.

"What's Free in NYC" is a weekly calendar compiled by the ISA office for international students. It highlights free events such as parades, street festivals, lectures, spoken-word, dance, and musical performances, movies, plays, comedy shows, etc.

Counseling Center

Provides individual counseling and group programs to students throughout the year. Educational workshops and materials, as well as referrals to external services also are available. The Center can help with a wide variety of problems and concerns, such as adjustment to college, resolving conflicts, improving relationships, reducing stress, and coping with feelings of anxiety and depression. All staff members adhere to professional, ethical and legal standards regarding confidentiality.

Health Services

Located on campus, Health Services provides urgent care for common minor illnesses and injuries. Services include blood pressure checks, vision screenings, allergy injections and nutritional counseling. Medical services provided by the nurse practitioner and physicians are at no charge. For serious or prolonged illness, students are referred to a local hospital or private physician.

Specialized Resource Center

Ensures educational opportunity for all students with special needs, including temporary disabilities, by providing access to full participation in campus life. The SRC is a free resource, assisting students in arranging individualized support services such as: priority seating; alternative testing environments; readers, note takers and scribes; access to adaptive technology; books on tape; and liaison with faculty and other College departments.

Facilities for worship

As a Lasallian Catholic Institution, the office of Campus Ministry and Social Action (CMSA) provides opportunities for students to develop their spirituality, perform community service, reflect on issues of social justice, and to put faith into action. CMSA seeks to serve students of all religious traditions. Prayer and worship opportunities are sought for all community members. Students are always welcome to drop in and enjoy the comfortable lounge at the Campus Ministry center, known as the Cornerstone.
