When you successfully complete the English Transition program, you move into full time degree study at Manhattan College. Depending on your major, you will be based in one of the following academic schools:
School of Business
Manhattan College's School of Business is known for its strong academics and networking opportunities. You will learn how to perform in the business world. Armed with practical knowledge, you enhance your ability to reason, problem solve and sort through ethical challenges.
Balanced curriculum
One of the unique features of the School of Business is its balance of liberal arts courses and professional business preparation. All students are required to take liberal arts core courses to provide a broad-based education on which to build. Students then take a core of business courses in each of the major areas, before pursuing a major area of study.
Experienced faculty
The School’s faculty is an international group of academics with experience in their fields. You will get to know your professors outside the classroom as you participate in student clubs and research projects.

Throughout your college career you will also have many opportunities to meet alumni so that you can explore different career options. Alumni keep close ties to the College: some come back to lecture as part of the Visiting Executives Program, some talk to current students through the Mentorship Program, more work with student interns and still more come to campus on Career Day.

Majors
ACCOUNTING
The program prepares you for careers in public, industrial or private accounting, governmental and institutional accounting, or for a general business career. Accounting education provides a sound basis for advancement to managerial positions and is a desirable background for a law profession.
COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS
The program includes studies in computer hardware and software, programming, computer decision systems, file and communication systems, operations analysis and simulation, management information systems, and the analysis and design of information systems.
ECONOMICS
This business economics program is oriented towards an examination of economic relationships, and will benefit students seeking a broad global economic background for government, industry, or law.
FINANCE
Examine the tasks and techniques of financial management within business and government units and study the elaborate structure of financial institutions. The program stresses financial analysis and decision-making.
GLOBAL BUSINESS STUDIES (second major only)
Develops a thorough and rigorous global perspective and understanding of the international environment and markets. This interdisciplinary program includes economics, finance, marketing, management and government. It can lead to careers in the international phase of business or government.
MANAGEMENT
The program examines management theories; explains the skills and activities used in fulfilling managerial functions; and explores new techniques in management. The major emphasis is on behavioral aspects of organizations.
MARKETING
Focuses on determining consumer needs and wants, developing products and services, and communicating with and delivering these goods to the consumer. The program emphasizes a managerial approach, is globally oriented and aimed at the development of marketing managers.

Undergraduate School of Engineering

The Curriculum

Majors
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
Combines mathematics and advanced chemistry with engineering principles to design, develop and operate industrial processes for the manufacture of a huge range of products. Chemical Engineering degrees can lead to careers in design and construction, computer simulation, specialty chemicals, industrial gases, petroleum, polymers, pollution prevention, pharmaceuticals or biotechnology.
CIVIL ENGINEERING
Civil engineers both design and construct facilities that affect all aspects of human life. They use mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics as the bases for the applied engineering sciences of fluid, particulate (soil) and solid mechanics. These engineering sciences can be applied to environmental, geotechnical, structural, and transportation and water resources problems.
COMPUTER ENGINEERING
Computer engineers build complex systems which integrate computer hardware and software. By combining the core courses in electrical engineering and computer science, the computer engineering curriculum prepares students to enter this challenging new field.
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Electrical Engineering ranges from design of solid state devices and increasingly complex microcircuits to communication systems of large scale power generating equipment and plants to meet society's accelerating demand for clean energy. Electrical engineers find careers in such diverse areas as industry and medicine.
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The program will give you technical competence in mechanical engineering knowledge and skills, and the ability to understand and apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering. You will be able to interpret data, design systems, and components. The curriculum includes thermal/fluids/energy, and solid mechanics/machine design/manufacturing.
