Life on campus at PLU

The campus

Located in the suburban Parkland neighborhood, PLU has a 126-acre campus, known to be one of the most beautiful campuses in the state of Washington. With its park-like lawns and large flowering rhododendron bushes, it provides the perfect backdrop for studying.

The facilities are excellent—students can enjoy sports and recreation, various lounges, a 3-story library, and The Cave nightclub. In addition to the variety of campus dining options available, just one block from campus is a street lined with affordable and culturally unique restaurants frequented regularly by PLU students.

A dynamic campus community promotes the holistic development of students - you will be challenged to make a difference in the world.

The PLU campus is situated 7 miles south of Tacoma's city center. Read more about the location of PLU.

Catering

A meal plan package is included for International Study Center students. Most student meals are served in the University Center Commons and include a choice of hot meals and at least one vegetarian selection. There is also an extensive salad and deli bar, desserts, and a large assortment of beverages and other extras. Students are also encouraged to use their meal plans at the other catering outlets owned and operated by PLU for students, faculty, staff and the community:

  • Espresso carts in the Administration building and the library
  • The Bistro, offering a quick lunch with made-to-order sub sandwiches and salads packaged for carry out convenience, and brick oven pizza for dinner
  • The University Center Coffee Shop, offering grill service for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as deli sandwiches and snacks
