Classes start: September 6, 2011

Entry requirements
See admissions section for academic and English Language entrance requirements. You do not need an official TOEFL score, but you will be tested on arrival to determine your English level.

Course structure
You will study between 18 to 26 academic hours of class time per week. The Program is divided into two phases:

  • In Phase 1 you will take english classes with integrated study skills.
  • In Phase 2 you take english language classes in combination with a university credit class.

Assessment
You will have a weekly tutorial with your supervisor who pays close attention to your progress. Together you will decide when you have reached the language level and are confident enough to begin full time academic study without language support.

Progression

  • During phase 1 you must successfully complete 15 english credit hours in order to progress to Phase 2.
  • During phase 2 you will be required to complete a combined total of 15 credits (both English and University classes), and improve your English level to the equivalent of TOEFL iBT 79 for undergraduates, or iBT 88 for graduates.
  • On successful completion of Phase 2, you will leave the English Transition Program and begin full time academic study on a PLU undergraduate or graduate degree.
