Phase I: English for Academic Purposes

Phase I is structured around themes which are approached using different learning processes, each with its own teacher and syllabus. These processes, represented by modules, are Listening and Speaking; Reading and Writing. As well as traditional, teacher lead classes, you will utilize our online learning system and be assisted in creating your own guided independent learning schedule.

You will be assigned a content-based elective such as Business English, Current Affairs, University Life or Public Speaking, as well as a language-based elective such as iBT TOEFL Preparation, Vocabulary Building or Pronunciation.

Sample timetable

 Monday    8.30-11.00am - Language Skills: Listening/Speaking
   11.20-12.10pm - Language Skills Practical Grammar
   2.30-5.10pm - Introductory Elective: Pronunciation
 Tuesday    8.30-11.00am: Language Skills: Reading/Writing
   12.30-1.30pm - Guided independent Learning
   2.00-4.40pm - Introductory Elective: Culture and Society
 Wednesday    8.30-12.00 noon - Language Skills: Listening/Speaking
   1.30-2.00pm - Tutorial: Progress Assessment
 Thursday    8.30-9.30am - Progress Tutorial and GIL Resume Writing
   9.40-11.40am - Language Skills: Reading/Writing
   2.30-5.10pm - Introductory Elective: Pronunciation
 Friday     8.30-11.00am - Language Skills Listening/Speaking
