What is a major?

A major is a sequence of courses in one subject area, usually in one department.

At PLU, your choice of major must be approved by the Department Chair. Not more than 44 semester hours earned in one department may be applied towards your Bachelor's Degree.

Many majors offer more than one type of degree – each with a different area of emphasis. This allows you to choose a course of study that is perfect for you. You may also study multiple disciplines as part of a double major or a major-minor combination.
