English Language Preparation

If you need to improve your English language to the required level for your academic programme, you can take our English Language preparation programme at the ISC.

This intensive course will improve your English language skills up to the level of IELTS 5.0, which is required for students wanting to study the International Foundation Year.

If you have an English language level equivalent to IELTS 4.0, one term of English Language Preparation is perfect for you.

If you have an English Language level equivalent to IELTS 3.5, two terms of English Language Preparation is perfect for you.

If you don’t have a current IELTS grade, you may still apply to the ISC. Please contact us to find out about alternative assessment of your English Language level.

Key facts

Course Length: 1 or 2 terms, depending on your English Language leve;

Term start dates:

One term ELP (entry requirement is normally IELTS 4.0 or equivalent)

• June 2012:
  to start Foundation in September 2012
• September 2012:
  to start Foundation in January 2013

Two Terms ELP (Entry requirement if IELTS 3.5 or equivalent)

• April 2012:
  to start Foundation in September 2012
• June 2012:
  to start Foundation in January 2013

Course structure: 25 hours per week tuition plus 10 hours per week of self-study

Assessment

• Internal test based on the English-Speaking Union's nine-point scale
