Court of Residence on the University of Surrey campusLiving on campus is a great way to meet new people and find your feet. Our students find it easy to settle in when they first move to the University, and we do everything we can to make sure you feel at home.

Accommodation is arranged in groups of self-catered housing called Courts of Residence and has been designed to meet your needs and provide you with a living space of your own.

Choice of residence

You choose your residence by price band:

Band A:
Shared room without washbasin. Sample room layout:

£57 per week*
Please note that this room type is not available to under 18s
Band B:
Basic room with washbasin. Sample room layout:

£72 per week*
Band C:
Single room, usually in blocks that have been modernised.

£80-£85 per week*
Band D:
Modern room with an en-suite shower room.

* Guide rents for 2008-2009. All rents include utilities, broadband and insurance. For calculation purposes please note that a standard tenancy length is 39 weeks.

Guaranteed accommodation

You are guaranteed a place in a University-managed residence while you study on the International Foundation Year (including English Language Preparation), provided we receive your housing application by any published deadlines.

All first-year students are normally guaranteed a place in University accommodation. The University's Accommodation Office will help you find the right place to live, on or off campus, at affordable rents throughout your time at Surrey.

All University student bedrooms have fast, unlimited, free broadband. Student kitchens are equipped with cookers, refrigerators and freezers and students bring their own cooking utensils and crockery. Students provide their own bed linen.

To help with day-to-day living, there are modern laundrettes, a post office, bank, bookshop, grocery store and newsagent on the main campus close to student residences. Large supermarkets and a halal grocery store are nearby and a weekly fruit and vegetable market is held on campus.
