University accommodation

Important accommodation deadlines for the September 2011 intake

The deadline for accommodation was 15th August 2011. If you haven't confirmed your place on your ISC programme yet, we cannot guarantee accommodation for you but we will try our best on a case to case basis.

To confirm your place, we need to receive your £1,000 confirmation payment and a completed acceptance form.

Living in university accommodation is one of the best ways to meet new people and settle into university life.

We know that when you arrive you may feel anxious that you don't know anyone. But everybody feels the same and living in university accommodation you will soon get to know your neighbours.

To help you settle in, most residences at Sussex have a live-in residential adviser - an established Sussex student who will help you when you arrive and can assist with any minor problems.

Rooms for different needs

At Sussex we have a diverse range of accommodation on campus to meet a variety of needs, including self-contained flats for between 4 and 12 students; single-person units; five-bedroom houses; single study-bedrooms with shared facilities; shared study-bedrooms and a small number of family flats suitable for a couple and a young child.

We also have a limited amount of housing adapted for students with a disability.

All University accommodation is self-catering, with cooking facilities in communal kitchens. A standard University-managed room has curtains and carpets, a bed, desk and chair, desk lamp, wardrobe, easy chair and shelves.

Bathroom facilities are normally shared, although a third of the accommodation is en-suite. Residences on campus are all equipped with telephones and broadband internet access. There is a launderette on campus, along with shops, a doctor and dentist and other essential facilities.

Bedding pack vouchers

If you are staying in university accommodation and require a bedding pack, please download a Bedding Voucher (, 136KB). This voucher should be filled in with your name, and handed in to the porter at each student residence, in exchange for a bedding pack.

The bedding pack consists of sheets, a duvet cover and a towel. The cost of the bedding pack is £35 and will be invoiced to you by the ISC.
