Progression to University Degrees in Wales
The International Foundation Year offers its students a pathway to a wide range of undergraduate degrees at outstanding universities throughout Wales.
Graduates of the Wales International Study Centre have the option to stay on at the University of Wales, Newport or transfer to one of our other 10 university partners across Wales.
Choosing a university degree
During the first term of the International Foundation Year, students are given a great deal of advice about the many degree courses that are available in the universities and colleges around Wales. Each student has a personal tutor who helps them to choose three degree choices in Wales that they would like to apply for. The universities will then issue 'conditional offers' meaning that the student will have a place providing that they successfully pass the International Foundation Year. The student may be given a conditional offer for all three courses and will then need to choose a first (or firm) choice and a second (or insurance) choice. The final coursework grades will then determine whether the student can study on their first or second choice degree. Students can then progress on to the degree at their chosen university that Autumn.
Degree progression options
The tables below outline the subject areas at each of our partner universites that are open to students upon completion of:
Click the university names to the right for details of the specific degree courses available to our students at our partner universities and the overall foundation grades required for entry.
Please note: all students wishing to follow a creative or performing arts degree will need to have creative ability. This can be demonstrated either in a portfolio, audition or interview during the Foundation. Students that already have a DVD or portfolio can submit it along with their application.
