North East Wales Institute
The town of Wrexham has great links to big cities and the beautiful mountains of Snowdonia. It is a lively town with a large student population, a vibrant music scene, an on-campus radio station, art gallery and venue for theatrical performances and pop concerts. With a wide range of programmes and excellent student support, students are well looked after with all the learning facilities you need to succeed in both Arts and the Sciences.
The largest town in north Wales, Wrexham is set amongst Ceiriog Valley close to the spectacular Clywdian mountains and the majestic River Dee. Chester, Liverpool, Llangollen, Manchester, Shrewsbury and Snowdonia are all nearby.
It is a lively town reflecting its student population of 3,000 with a vibrant music scene. Each year it plays host to the Wrexham Science Festival, one of the most successful festivals of its kind in the UK.
The North East Wales Institute (NEWI) has two main campuses within five minutes’ walk of each other. Plas Coch is the larger of the two and houses the majority of NEWI’s programmes, while the North Wales School of Art and Design is housed in the Regent Street campus.
NEWI can trace its roots back to 1887. Its students follow a wide range of exciting vocationally relevant programmes at all levels. NEWI prides itself on its individual attention, superb student support and excellent value for money. Its centres of excellence include Centre for Advanced and Renewable Materials and Centre for Water Soluble Polymers.

Accommodation at NEWI’s on-campus student village or other NEWI owned accommodation in the Wrexham area is guaranteed to all international students throughout the first year of their studies. Most on-campus accommodation is en-suite.
Library and learning facilities of the highest standard. Computer suites are located throughout the campus. Facilities include a campus based sports centre, a Human Performance Laboratory, a Theatre and Performance Studio, a Radio Studio, Engineering Laboratories, Scene of Crime Suite for forensic science and a Chinese Medicine Clinic.
The North Wales School of Art and Design provides spacious workspaces for its students and workshops that cater for all the art specialisms taught at NEWI.
The NEWI William Aston Hall is a 900 seat venue accommodating a range ofevents including theatrical performances and pop/rock concerts. An on-campus art gallery is open to the public but features student work.
