The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) offers a unique environment for intensive training for professional careers in music and drama. The college, located in the castle grounds, is in the heart of Cardiff - a growing modern capital, home to the Welsh government, Welsh Opera, the Millennium Stadium and a huge range of clubs, theatres and more. The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) is located in Cardiff Castle grounds. With a population of 315,000 Cardiff is a thriving city with a growing national and international reputation.

It combines a friendly and inexpensive location with the cultural and recreational amenities of a progressive modern capital including the Welsh National Opera, Cardiff International Arena, comedy clubs, galleries, theatres and museums. As one of the UK’s major sporting centres, it has the Millennium Stadium and the National Indoor Athletics Stadium amongst its sport facilities.

Accommodation
Accommodation

All students from outside of the UK are guaranteed accommodation for the duration of their studies. The College has dedicated halls of residence at Severn Point, a fully managed, secure site just ten minutes’ walk from the College. Private, en-suite study bedrooms are housed in flats of four, five or six bedrooms with a shared living room and fully fitted kitchen.

The award winning restoration of the former castle mews building is now called the Anthony Hopkins Centre. The restoration has created two modern recital galleries, a studio theatre, a professional recording studio, courtyard performance space and 25 new music practice rooms, many overlooking the park.

The main building houses a main theatre, a studio theatre and recital room. It also houses the library, including reference resources, and IT workstations.

Located just five minutes from the city centre it offers all the opportunities of a thriving city. The events calendar encompasses over 300 public performances every year including orchestral concerts, recitals, drama, opera and musical theatre. There is a also a successful Students’ Union with a lively entertainment programme.
