It is one of the UK’s major sporting centres and home to one of the world’s finest sporting venues, the Millennium Stadium. UWIC is located on four campuses all within 2 miles of the city centre.

UWIC has an established reputation for attracting students from across the world with over 800 students from 120 different countries. Students benefit from the highly vocational nature of the courses. In 2005, The Sunday Times league Table ranked UWIC as the top ‘new’ university in the UK.

UWIC has 14 centres of excellence undertaking research and working with business. In 2007 UWIC became the first UK University to be awarded the Charter Mark for the fifth time.

UWIC guarantees accommodation for international students for all years of their study in purpose-built accommodation at the Cyncoed and Plas Gwyn Campuses. All rooms are en-suite and have broadband connection free of charge.

SPECIAL FACILITIES

UWIC is a top sporting university with some of the best sports facilities in the UK. The National Indoor Athletics Centre, a £7 million state-of-the-art facility housed at UWIC’s Cyncoed campus, places UWIC at the forefront of performance facilities in the UK.

The Learning Centres provide access to a broad range of learning facilities for students and staff at UWIC. They integrate Library and IT services to provide one convenient location for study. With professional support and guidance, well-equipped study areas and access to a wide range of learning resources and IT facilities, they cater for all, including those with special needs.

Offering everything you would expect from a capital city – major sporting events at the Millennium Stadium, hundreds of different pubs, bars and clubs, world-class entertainment, arts and theatre, shops ranging from vintage boutiques to vast big-name high-street favourites, and chic waterside bars and restaurants in Cardiff Bay.

UWIC has a lively Students’ Union which even runs its own city centre bar and night-club.
