Set in the middle of beautiful idyllic Welsh countryside but with a lively student social programme there is something for everyone. With 15% of students from overseas you'll feel at home in the friendly, community-focused town.

Set in the Teifi valley in south west Wales, in the safest county in the UK, Lampeter is a town of 4,000 with almost 2,000 students. It sits at the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains in Ceredigion, in the middle of idyllic Welsh countryside.

The Pembrokeshire National Park is close by and a river flows through the campus. It has a unique, friendly, community atmosphere within a thriving market town.

There is a very strong focus on the University which enjoys its status as the smallest in Europe, whilst also being the oldest degree awarding institution in England and Wales, apart from Oxford and Cambridge.

The University
THe University

The University of Wales, Lampeter was established in 1822. It is a specialist liberal arts university, teaching humanities and social science subjects within a safe, friendly, community located in a county with the lowest crime rate in the UK.

The compact nature of the campus and the town means that going from one lecture to the next or heading back home at night does not involve a long cross-city trek. Approximately 14% of students who attend the University are from overseas.

And as one French student remarked: “Don’t forget to mention that Lampeter is the most welcoming university I have ever had the pleasure to experience.”
