Academic schools at Woodbury University
Depending on your major, you will study in one of Woodbury's four academic Schools:
School of Architecture
The School of Architecture offers a bachelor's program which integrates recent innovations in computer-aided design, multi-media, and sustainable technologies into the design curriculum. Students within the department are expected to master five areas of study pertinent to all architecture:
- Critical Thinking - the ability to build abstract relationships and understand the impact of ideas.
- Design - the inventive and reflective conception, development, and production of architecture.
- Building - the technical aspects, systems, and materials and their role in the implementation of design.
- Representation - the wide range of media used to communicate design ideas including writing, speaking, drawing, and model making.
- Professionalism - the ability to manage, argue, and act legally, ethically, and critically in society and the environment.

School of Business
Woodbury University is home to the oldest business school west of the Mississippi River, and offers a wide range exciting courses. Operating from a new, state-of-the-art building, the School offers two degrees: an undergraduate BBA and the MBA. Courses are taught by expert faculty who understand the importance of balancing theory and practice in their teaching. The BBA degree has a clear Management focus. During your first two years at Woodbury, you will take core courses in management, accounting, marketing and information technology. This allows you to sample each area before selecting one in which to major.
The school prepares business graduates to compete in a dynamic, global environment and get you into the job market as quickly as possible. Upon graduating from this school, students will have a solid set of business skills, be able to take on leadership roles as individuals or part of effective teams, possess strong written, verbal and electronic communication skills, and be productive citizens who contribute to societies as socially responsible citizens.

School of Media, Culture & Design
The School offers challenging degree paths that cultivate the talents of each student and nurtures their growth. One of Woodbury's most popular majors, Fashion Design, is found in the School of Media, Culture and Design.
The school offers rigorous education in the fields of Animation, Communication, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Interior Architecture and Psychology. Students are encouraged to explore the areas between and around these disciplines and to foster the personal vision, intelligence and talent needed to succeed.

The Institute of Transdisciplinary Studies
This school offers a variety of programs within the humanities and social sciences and aims to teach students how to question and debate accepted norms of society, values and practices. Students and faculty of The Institute of Transdisciplinary Studies understand that the world of the 21st century requires a new way of thinking, a new way of working, a new way of being, and are dedicated to constructive problem-solving that focuses on objective issues, personal values, and societal needs. Students investigate and confront questions of scientific technique and ethics, issues of both environmental and social sustainability, and their commitments, practices and personal values.
The school offers the study of diverse subjects such as economics, foreign languages, literature, philosophy, politics, history and mathematics.

Hollywood Center for Community Research and Design
The School of Architecture's Center for Community Research and Design (CCRD) is located on Hollywood Boulevard at the core of the historic redevelopment district. The CCRD expands opportunities for students and faculty by extending the professional learning atmosphere into the city.
Community-based projects, research seminars, and design studios help students develop awareness and provide direct participation in urban issues and practices.

The Design Center & the Judith Tamkin Fashion Center
The Design Center and the Judith Tamkin Fashion Center offer specialized support facilities including a wood/metal shop, a materials resource library, a photography lab, and specialized computing facilities, as well as providing 24 hour access to studios.
The Woodbury University Fashion Study Collection, consisting of over 6,000 garments and accessories representing the clothing history of the past 200 years, is available as a hands-on resource to students.
The Judith Tamkin Fashion Center houses rotating exhibitions of items from the Fashion Study Collection, as well as student work. Students may intern with the curator, working on displays and management of the collection.
