Woodbury University campus is in a beautiful residential area of the City of Burbank – adjacent to the City of Los Angeles – in the State of California. The city of Burbank was built on aviation and moviemaking, and today retains much of its storied past. Burbank is home to many movie studios and television production facilities. NBC, Warner Brothers and Disney all have studios in the area, and you can tour these giants of the entertainment industry and see what goes on behind the scenes. Shopping in Burbank is well represented at Media City Center, where a wide variety of shops, restaurants and services are offered. After shopping, there is plenty of opportunity to relax in one of the city’s 22 parks, which total roughly 2200-acres and offer facilities such as tennis courts, an outdoor amphitheatre, ballparks and a golf course.

Downtown Los Angeles is a 20 minute drive from campus. Los Angeles has world-famous attractions that make the city a very popular tourist destination. It is surrounded by celebrated sights such as Hollywood, Disneyland and some of the best galleries and museums in the country. The city has many different facets. It is well-known for its theme parks, as being home to the entertainment and film industry and having some of the most famous sporting teams in the world. It is also a vibrant center of activity for music, theatre and cultural events. The Getty Center has works by some of the most famous artists in the world. Olvera Street is the oldest in Los Angeles, where you will see historic buildings and the Mexican marketplace. Visits to China Town, Korea Town and Little Tokyo give a flavor of the city’s ethnic diversity. For a true taste of LA, don’t forget to visit Malibu Beach and Beverly Hills, home of the rich and famous. And of course you’ll want to go star-spotting in Hollywood. If you have no luck you can take a tour of one of LA’s TV or movie studios or get tickets for the recording of a popular TV show.

Southern California is one of the most vibrant and forward-looking areas in the USA and a great place to explore American culture. As home to the motion picture and television industry, it is America’s Entertainment Capital. The Los Angeles area is unique for its incredible cultural diversity. Combined with great weather and LA’s strategic location on the Pacific Rim, the region offers everything that an international student could want.

The temperature in Los Angeles usually ranges from 59 -81 degrees Fahrenheit (15 – 27 degrees Celsius), although California summers can be very sunny and hot. The Southern California area is rarely humid, and the rainfall averages only 14 inches (38cm) per year. Snow falls in the local mountains, but never on the city itself.
