Your choice of Undergraduate Majors

Depending on your major, you will study in one of Woodbury's three academic Schools:Student in lab class

School of Architecture

Students in the nationally ranked Woodbury Architecture programs are the next generation of creative leaders. They are:

  • professionally prepared
  • proficient at change
  • committed to their communities
  • thoroughly prepared for the future

The School of Architecture offers a five-year professional Bachelor of Architecture degree, which integrates recent innovations in computer-aided design, multi-media, and sustainable technologies into the design curriculum.

Woodbury University's architecture program is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board. Entry is highly selective and you should apply early to this program as it is usually over subscribed. Students within the department are expected to master five areas of study pertinent to all architecture:

  • Critical Thinking - the ability to build abstract relationships and understand the impact of ideas.
  • Design - the inventive and reflective conception, development, and production of architecture.
  • Building - the technical aspects, systems, and materials and their role in the implementation of design.
  • Representation - the wide range of media used to communicate design ideas including writing, speaking, drawing, and model making.
  • Professionalism - the ability to manage, argue, and act legally, ethically, and critically in society and the environment.

Hollywood Center for Community Research and Design

The School of Architecture's Center for Community Research and Design (CCRD) is located on Hollywood Boulevard at the core of the historic redevelopment district. The CCRD expands opportunities for students and faculty while extending the professional learning atmosphere into the city itself. The CCRD's community-based projects, research seminars, and design studios help students develop awareness and direct participation in the urban issues, practices and places that define the city. The CCRD is a public resource providing exhibitions, lectures, workshops, exchanges, and publications while serving as studio space for some upper division topic studios.

School of Business

Woodbury University is home to the oldest business school west of the Mississippi, and offers a wide range exciting courses. Woodbury prepares business graduates to compete in a dynamic, global environment and get you into the job market as quickly as possible. During your first two years at Woodbury, you will take core courses in management, accounting, marketing and information technology. This allows you to sample each area before selecting one in which to major.

In years three and four, you will choose your major from the following fields:

  • Business Management
Here you will learn how to implement organizational goals, study complex financial models and measurements, and dissect and solve difficult issues facing organizations. You can also choose to focus on an area of emphasis in e-commerce, entrepreneurship, finance, human resources development, international business or management.
  • Accounting
As an accounting student, you'll learn how money flow is controlled and how business strategy and regulation directly affect accounting decisions. The goal is to prepare you for professional or managerial accounting positions, and in your senior year, you will take a 120 hour internship as a tax accountant, auditor, financial analyst or systems analyst.
  • Information Technology
You will learn how to design systems and build efficient communications networks vital to any successful business enterprise. All IT seniors are required to complete a real project for a real client.

You'll take courses in market research, consumer behavior and marketing management, and then tailor your degree to develop a specific area of expertise.
