The new International Study Centre based at Queen’s Campus, Stockton-on-Tees will provide a range of pathway programmes to prepare students for further academic study at Durham University.

Looking back and celebrating our success in 2016

Whilst 2016 has seen new challenges to higher education around the word, Study Group has gone from strength-to-strength, with new university relationships and programmes, as well as improved results at many centres.

82% of International Study Centre students who completed their course and achieved the required grades were offered a degree place at their host university.*

CareerAhead launched across our International Study Centre network, introducing a careers element into our academic courses to guide students towards making the right choices and to give the tools needed to stand out in the competitive graduate job market.

The best university preparation for you

300 students progressed to a top 20 UK university; with 15 students going on to study Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine, including 4 students from the Science and Pharmacy Foundation who are now attending the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland.

17 current students offered interviews for the University of Cambridge and University of Oxford.

Offer-holders for selected Bellerbys Foundation pathways now receive a offer of conditional progression to Lancaster University, a top 10 ranked UK university (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017).

A real business experience

First intake from International Foundation Year, International Year One and Pre-Masters courses progresses to the University.

The University maintained its ranking of 15th in the UK in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017 and was recognised as the Top Modern University in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2016.

The University was shortlisted for ‘Entreprenurial University of the Year 2016’ in the Times Higher Education Awards.

Study in Holland for value that lasts a lifetime

110% growth in the number of students.

A new location on the University of Groningen campus opened. Students can progress form the new centre to either University of Groningen or Hanze University of Applied Sciences.

New waterfront setting location opened for Holland International Study Centre Amsterdam, just a 10-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station.

Students began to progress to a new affiliated university, University of Tilburg, ranked in the top 75 for Economics/Business (THE rankings 2015-2016).

Developing your potential

88% of International Study Centre students who completed their course and achieved the required grades were offered a degree place at the University of Huddersfield.

New £27m Law School scheduled to open in January 2017.

Success in the real world

83% of International Study Centre students who completed their course and achieved the required grades were offered a place to study at Kingston University.

New International Year One programme launched - a two-term, fast-track programme where students can progress to year two of a Business Management degree in May, straight after their International Study Centre programme.

We celebrated Graduation Day with our students. Watch Bella from Taiwan and Erin from China both achieve first class degrees in Business Management and Marketing Management.

A highly-ranked leader in the provision of inspiring teaching and research

82% of International Study Centre students who completed their course and achieved the required grades were offered a degree place at Lancaster University.

The University gained top 10 placements in all three major UK league tables.

International Study Centre student, Akash, a high achiever on the International Foundation Year (gaining a grade of 77% against the required 70%) began his degree in Law and Politics. He set up a Foundation Year Society through the Students’ Union to provide help and support to current International Study Centre students. Watch his story here.

Leeds International Study Centre welcomed a record number of students in 2016.

Leeds International Study Centre moved to new premises at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, a short walk from the Leeds Beckett University’s Headingley Campus. Facilities include cutting-edge learning and social spaces with modern technology and a café where students can relax or study.

New prospectus and website promoting Leeds Beckett University and the foundation programme will go live in early 2017.

Discovering innovative ways to change the world

88% of International Study Centre students who completed their course and achieved the required grades were offered a degree place at the University of Leicester.

Four students received High Achiever Award scholarships from the University £2,500 fee reduction for each year of undergraduate study

  • Faith Jessica from Malawi, studied International Foundation Year Science and will take up her place on BSc Computer Science in September 2017
  • Obinna from Nigeria, studied International Foundation Year Society and Culture and is now studying LLB Law
  • Yuqing from China, studied International Foundation Year Economics and Management and is now studying BA Economics and Accounting
  • Hoi from Hong Kong, studied International Foundation Year Engineering and Technology and is now studying BSc Psychology

International Study Centre alumna Si Jia Tan from Singapore achieved a first class degree – BA (Hons) Accountancy and Finance - having progressed from the International Year One programme.

Lincoln achieved top 10 in the UK for Overall Student Satisfaction (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017).

The University was shortlisted for Entrepreneurial University of the Year in the Times Higher Education Awards 2016.

Live and learn in amazing Liverpool

The new Extended International Foundation Year and International Year One programmes launched, giving extra support and tuition to help students to succeed.

80% of International Study Centre students who completed their course and achieved the required grades were offered a degree place at Liverpool John Moores University.

Student numbers at the International Study Centre grew by 38% in 2016.

Where global citizens become future leaders

The University introduced a new BEng/MEng in Electronic Engineering from September 2017, giving International Study Centre students an opportunity to progress to this degree from the Sciences foundation route.

Royal Holloway ranked 173rd in the world and 27th overall in the UK in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2016/17.

The University awarded 18 scholarships to the College’s top performing students, with a further five prestigious Merit Scholarships awarded to students progressing from the College.

The University proved its tradition for providing a great student life by achieving top 3 in the UK for Student Experience for the 6th year in a row (Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2011-2016).

The University celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The new Extended International Foundation Year launched to give students more time and support to fully prepare for the challenges of progressing to undergraduate study at Surrey.

Surrey maintained its position as 4th in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2017.

Succeed in the world

Sussex International Study Centre again celebrated an excellent progression rate: 97% of students who completed the course and achieved the required grades were offered a place to study at Sussex.

The International Study Centre celebrated 10 years of student success (2006-16) - more than 3,000 students have progressed to the University.

Sussex maintained its position in the top 20 UK rankings – 18th in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017.

Stand out from the world

100% of UCD International Study Centre students who completed the course and achieved the required grades were offered a place to study at UCD.

UCD retained its position within the top 1% of higher education institutions worldwide (QS World University Rankings 2017).


The International Study Centre moved to a new location in the heart of the UCD campus, close to student accommodation and other great facilities.
