Study Group Acquires Australian Institute of Applied Sciences
Study Group is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Australian Institute of Applied Science (AIAS), the leading provider of natural medicine education in Brisbane.
AIAS is an icon in the provision of accredited vocational education courses in Brisbane, Queensland with origins dating back to 1972. From its origins in massage education, today AIAS provides a comprehensive range of certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses in natural medicine, beauty therapy, hairdressing and applied fitness to both domestic and international students.
The acquisition of AIAS marks the second acquisition in as many months by the newly created Study Group Career Education division.
Warren Jacobson, Managing Director of Study Group, Career Education said “The acquisition of AIAS is a natural complement to our recent acquisition of the Australian College of Physical Education and entrenches Study Group as a leader in the provision of accredited education to the health and wellbeing industry. We are in a unique position to be able to offer students a comprehensive range of both vocational and higher education courses in health and wellbeing. With over 4,000 students per annum participating in face to face and distance education, AIAS is a robust platform off which to build an education college with national scale.”
Cherie Morley will remain as the Chief Executive Officer of AIAS. Ms. Morley said ‘Whilst we have received many approaches to acquire the Institute, Study Group’s commitment to delivering students academic excellence, industry relevance and job readiness in a supportive learning environment struck a chord with us. We are excited about the benefits that access to broader experience and resources will bring to bear in advancing the College.”
Mr Jacobson added “For now it is business as usual for all students and staff; however we will move quickly to expedite new course development opportunities and to apply for VET FEE Help to enable students to access financial support for their participation in education. Whilst we are extremely excited about the future for AIAS, we must complement its founders Graeme Abeya and Cherie Morley and the fantastic team they have built over many years, on the success of AIAS to date. ”
