Study Group: the next level
On September 8th, 2006 CHAMP Private Equity, in partnership with Petersen Investments, took ownership of Study Group International Limited for $176.4 million. This acquisition marks the next level for this industry-leading international education provider.
Assuming his new role as Company Chairman at the Hove headquarters, Arvid Petersen, of Petersen Investments says of the acquisition:
"We knew Study Group was a great organisation with great people, a great reputation and great brands… all these things encouraged us. In addition the initiatives currently in the pipeline will provide great platforms for us to grow the business."
Here in the UK Study Group has been invited to run on-campus study centres by three leading UK universities. These International Study Centres (ISCs) offer specialist preparation for a degree at: The University of Sussex, The University of Surrey and Lancaster University. Each of the ISCs will deliver an International Foundation Year, designed in close collaboration with the host university. They will offer a direct path to undergraduate study for international students who have completed high school.
Additionally, building work is on schedule for the new Study Group Centre in Brighton, and is due to open in September 2007. The Centre, which will house the company headquarters, two international colleges, student accommodation buildings and on-site sport and restaurant facilities will mark a new standard within the international education industry.
In Australia, Study Group has been able to extend the terms of its long-standing relationship with Charles Sturt University, one of the largest public universities in the country, and will now deliver Charles Sturt degrees at new Study Group run University Study Centres in the heart of Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
