Impact on the Environment
Working efficiently to minimise our impact
At Study Group, we endeavour to develop and manage the impact of our business on the environment through the most sustainable methods. We regard local laws and ordinances as minimum requirements, which are binding for all our divisions. Wherever necessary, our contribution to safety, health and environmental protection exceeds these requirements. From the workplace to our work practices, we consider the economic, social and environmental impacts of our activities.
In our recently opened Boston Study Centre we used wood flooring made from 10% recycled product and rated by the US Green Building Council to comply with LEED. Similarly, our Brighton Study Centre in the UK is a purpose-built environmentally-friendly building, emitting 40% less carbon dioxide than other buildings of a similar size. The building uses low energy lighting, high insulation, including planted roof areas and computerised systems which continually monitor the efficiency of the buildings and their energy consumption. We plan to build more of these environmentally-friendly buildings in the near future. The Company also encourages the use of fair trade products in its offices and encourages staff to care for the environment by promoting cycling to work schemes and the use of public transport to get to the workplace.
We regularly review our progress in relation to these practices. Please read our current environmental policy.
