Our partner universities, colleges, and International Study Centres have moved to online learning for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester.

The Canadian government has implemented travel restrictions for foreign nationals into Canada due to COVID-19. The official updates from the Canadian government provide the very latest information, including health and travel advice (both for those coming into the country and those travelling abroad) and information on current travel restrictions. This is an evolving situation, and advice is being updated regularly.

We have made the decision to move all instruction online for our International Study Centres, colleges, and universities until further notice. We are asking all students to continue to monitor their emails on a regular basis.

We are committed to working with every student on the options to continue studying with us. More information about upcoming semester intakes will be forthcoming. Please remember that there is no extra cost if you decide to defer your studies to the next available intake.

Online Learning Information

Our institutions are well-equipped for online learning and will utilize a mix of online teaching methods. The blend of real-time and offline learning will vary course-by-course for each university and International Study Centre.

Our online courses are taught by the same instructors as those classes taught on our campuses.

Our students have access to the following with our online courses:

  • High-quality, interactive and engaging lessons
  • A combination of live and recorded video and voice sessions
  • Online learning platform with access to course outlines, materials, discussion forums, recorded sessions (video and voice), collaboration tools and more, depending on the needs of the course.

While course activities may vary by university partner, every week students will be required to participate in live and/or recorded sessions, complete a variety of tasks, receive feedback on their work, and interact with the instructor and other classmates. Activities may include:

  • A combination of live and recorded video and voice sessions
  • Group discussions through video chat, group forums, instant messaging, or email.

We have structured our course activities to ensure students will have opportunities for real-time interaction at different points during the course period and will be able to access recorded sessions at any time that is convenient to them.

The online course platform Varies by partner university. Common platforms are Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, and WebEx.

We are testing in a few environments worldwide to make the platforms work for as many students as possible.

Our tuition costs reflect the quality of instruction and education provided by our universities, colleges, and International Study Centres. The costs remain the same because our online courses are taught by the same instructors as our on-campus courses and our credit-bearing courses maintain the same structure as before.

Yes, students can enroll in online learning prior to receiving their student visa/study permit approval. However, we recommend that students obtain these documents before enrolling.

Students are able to complete shorter pathway programs, such as 1-semester International Year or Pre-Master’s Program courses, online. More information about full degree programs will be available soon.

Our expectation is for students to complete courses on campus as soon as visa and travel restrictions allow.

We are expecting to provide certificates of completion from our universities and colleges, where applicable, to support visa applications. These will be provided for students who have completed a semester of completed online learning.

In order to enter Canada, students must have a valid visa/study permit and will need to extend their current visa/study permit if they are not able to enter the country before it expires.

Our Canadian university partners are lobbying the IRCC regularly for clarity on this. We hope that online courses will be counted but cannot give guarantees at this time. We will provide more information as soon as it is available.

We anticipate most courses being available online; however, some majors may not be available due to content. Please refer to individual partners for excluded majors.

We anticipate all progression requirements will remain the same for online courses as with on-campus programs and will continue to be based on university partner guidelines. For example, if the required GPA for progression in an on-campus program was 2.8, the required GPA for progression from the online course will remain at 2.8.

We are continuing to identify testing methods for online courses and are planning to accommodate for as many tests as possible once students arrive on campus.

Your program may start online and you will join us on campus from the start of the following term, after the Center has reopened.

We will reopen our study centers when we determine it is safe and viable to do so, guided by advice from government and public health authorities and in consultation with our university partners.

When the time comes, we will provide the information and pre-arrival support you need so that you are fully prepared to travel and begin studying on campus.
