At Study Group, we actively integrate sustainability into both our teaching and the way we run our campuses. Through local initiatives and a growing alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we are working to reduce our environmental impact and ensure that sustainability is reflected across our educational programmes and day-to-day operations.
We are also proud to collaborate with partners who share our commitment to sustainability across the higher education sector. Since 2023, at least five of our university partners have consistently ranked in the top 100 of the QS Sustainability Rankings, which is based on a comprehensive set of indicators including carbon footprint reduction, sustainable operations and climate-focused research.
We are committed to ensuring that all our premises are as sustainable as they can be within the control that we have over them. This is why 100% of our estate portfolio has been fitted with low-energy LED lighting and equipped with recycling bins. We reduce our paper use as much as we can and have a strict policy to turn off any idle monitors.
Study Group’s principal data storage supplier of choice is the Switch data centre based in Las Vegas – a certified carbon-neutral data centre.
The International Study Centre for progression to the University of Leeds has expanded into a new historic home boasting world-class green credentials, including energy-efficient air conditioning and LED lighting, electric vehicle charging points, and a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’. Study Group also contributed to the area via a green levy contribution made to the Leeds Council.
The location for the new campus was chosen in part because of its exceptional environmental and sustainability credentials, including a BREEAM rating of Excellent, EPC A, 100% LED lighting, and low carbon heating. The rest of the estate also boasts biodiverse roof gardens, beehives and bug hotels, as well as a bat corridor and 1.2km of rebuilt river wall to ensure the long-term security and sustainability of the site.
