London ranked the best city in the world for university students

London retained its leading position as the best city in the world to study in, according to the new QS Best Student City rankings.

Staving off strong competition from other popular cities, including Tokyo, Montreal and Berlin, London was identified as the number one higher education study destination globally due to its “outstanding cultural, economic and educational opportunities”.

As Dr Mark Cunnington, Chief Operating Officer for the UK and Europe at leading international education provider Study Group, comments:

“It is fantastic to learn that London has retained the top spot in the new QS Best Student City rankings. At Study Group, we are delighted to be able to offer students access to higher education in this vibrant city, through our partnerships with Royal Holloway, University of London, Kingston University London, University of Huddersfield - London, Coventry University London, and through our own Bellerbys College, London.

“As one of the most globally diverse cities in the world, London is well positioned to support integration to UK life. International students can find peers who share the same culture, as well as interact with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds to build their worldwide network of contacts.

“With 47 per cent of London made up of green space, students can also benefit from being based in a thriving, lively city whilst being able to connect with nature. Furthermore, as a leading cultural centre, international learners can visit some of the best museums in the world for free, enhancing their overall student experience.

“Crucially, London is a global hub for many leading industries, including technology and financial services, with multi-national companies actively recruiting graduates from the city. As such, with the availability of the two-year post-study work visa, London-based international graduates are well-placed to gain access to global employment opportunities at leading companies after their studies.”

Study Group partners with 34 universities worldwide, to deliver academic pathway programmes (e.g., Foundation Year, International Year 1/Diploma and Pre-Masters courses), which broaden access to high quality, global Higher Education opportunities for thousands of international students every year, across all subject areas.
