More than a thousand students are ready to Prepare for Success

Study Group’s online enhanced specialist course – Prepare for Success – is back to ensure students do not miss out on vital preparation before starting their academic programme.

Prepare for Success is available for all students who confirm their place on a pathway programme starting in autumn 2022 at one of our UK and Europe International Study Centres. Consistently rated 4 out of 5 by students, Prepare for Success is primarily designed to build students’ confidence ahead of their academic journey. During the COVID-19 pandemic the programme was also adapted to address evolving student support needs in areas such as isolation, loss of confidence, digital literacy for online study and mental health challenges.

We have had a tremendous response in the first week of operation alone, with over 1,000 students already logging in and accessing Prepare for Success.

As Study Group continues to see an increasing numbers of students from a broader range of markets with different pre-arrival needs, Prepare for Success will be delivering two intakes this summer. A 5-week intake will be followed by a short 1.5-week intake to better align with academic intakes and student needs.

Using our 25 years of experience in teaching international students, we have introduced new features for 2022 intakes, based on market insights and student feedback.

These include:

  • Guidance on safety and security to help students settle into a new environment (covering topics such as keeping money safe, going out, and safety in the house).
  • Support with CV writing skills and interview preparation to be fully prepared for a future career.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for successful study and work with our new IT classes.

All students who confirm a place on one of our programmes, and pay a portion of their fees, will be given free access to our learning platform Study Smart a week before the course starts and be encouraged to join a programme of activities to familiarise themselves with the course and platform.

A supportive international community

“I think Prepare for Success teaches you all about different aspects of university life," says Shereen from Bahrain, who studied at Cardiff University International Study Centre “it’s the perfect length because you don’t feel like it’s too overwhelming.”

As well as building confidence and becoming a self-reflective learner, Prepare for Success also allows students to engage with classmates from all over the world and interact with tutors before their main academic programme. This will help them to immerse themselves in the university experience and prepare to make the transition from home to overseas study.
